Current mood: frustrated

Someone in Poland who bought a 600 dollar tablet from me just opened a dispute indicating he didn't receive it, so my Paypal balance is now negative. I'm kind of pissed, and I shouldn't be, because he sent messages to our Paypal account but I assumed that Andrea was checking messages because I'd forgotten that I'd forwarded them to my email address. I have to try to find the customs form when I get home and figure out how to track the thing. I'm primarily mad at myself for having missed seeing the messages.

And when I went out to the car to look for the customs form, I locked my keys in it. *sighs* I knew it would happen sooner or later. It's just the way I am. I wish I'd gotten that extra key for my wallet made.

I used to be more centered. I'm starting to really dislike the changes that working helpdesk, and specifically help desk at this disorganized, hodge-podge excuse for a corporation, has on my psyche. I was talking a little bit about that to [info]megmoves yesterday evening. I always see people at their worst; when they are confronted with something they can't solve, or they're trying to wade through the maze of paperwork and approvals I lay in front of them. Once I get that certification in July, I need to look elsewhere for something that involves more hardware and less wetware. I don't want to get bitter and angry and I'm starting to feel that way too often here. It may be time to move on.

(This episode of angst brought to you in part by absurdly complex and draconian Sarbanes-Oxley related access policies for our network that I am charged with enforcing [not that it really matters that much considering we continue to be the only department that actually passes our SOX audits year after year and everything's going to get turned on it's ear anyway when our acquisition merger goes through in a few months].)

But I'll wash my hands of that for now.

I had a really nice time going for a walk through Petrifying Springs last night with [info]megmoves and Kuma. The sky seemed at times on the verge of rain, and I felt a brief misting at one point, but umbrellas never became necessary and the hint of damp and the beautifully contrasted sunlight through the clouds made everything so beautiful. It was a really pleasant way to spend an evening, and wonderful company to do it in.

Kuma, poor thing, was quite worn out and I had to carry him up the stairs to go to bed last night. He got up a couple of steps and then just stopped. I'm getting worried about his legs. He's had a little arthritis for a few years, but it's been worse lately. We've started giving him some glucosamine supplements and I made sure to get the senior food for him with extra glucosamine too. Our puppy's going to be ten years old soon....

I hope you can get it resolved soon.
This is one of the reasons I haven't really tried to sell anything yet. I am afraid of the shipping hassles!

HUgs to you puppy! He is one of the sweetes dogs I have ever met. Because I am allergic, I've never really been a dog person, but Kuma is close to changing my mind!
*hugs*

Thanks; me too. I'm really thinking about not selling out of country anymore. I'll have to see how much of a pain this is to resolve, and then I may make that decision. In country shipping is much easier, especially if you ship with Priority Mail and use delivery confirmation.

It makes me happy that Kuma made such an impression on you. He really is a good boy and he loves meeting new people.

I don't sell out of country anymore either!

Did it but after getting burned, twice. Forget it, the way its set up, they could gett he item and then shaft you on it, get the money back and get the item for free and you have no way to prove otherwise. Unless you spent a ton of money on tracking, etc... you get screwed. It just isn't worth the hassle and expense!

You may be right. I did, however, get insurance on the thing, so maybe even if it got lost, I can get my money back and refund the guy. We'll see how it goes when I talk to the post office today.

What a hassle about the sale. Yikes.

I have to be *so* careful about car keys. For the truck, I carry the electric lock key fob in a separate pocket from my keys. Really saved me once when we were on our remote property unloading stuff and one of use must have bumped the lock button. Truck was sitting there running with keys locked in. Would have been a real disaster if I did not have the fob.

In general, I will *not* let myself lock *any* door unless I visually see the key in my hand.

I never used to lock my car; I never kept anything of value in it. [info]moiracoon made me start doing it after I moved out to Michigan with her. It was really bad for a while because I was never used to having to make sure my keys were with me before locking the door, but she'd drilled the actual door locking into my head so I'd keep doing it before checking. After a random stranger in a post office parking lot helped me break into my Olds once (gotta love Detroit, no?), I had an extra key made to keep in my wallet. Of course, I no longer have that car....

Having now done it again in less than a month of new car ownership, I'm going to adopt the same tactic and have another key made this weekend. I don't trust myself enough not to! *grins*

Is the lovely [info]moiracoon originally from Michigan, or was just living there when you two got together?

Great story about random person in parking lot having the needed skills to break into your car.

With keys, I had to adopt the "verify before lock" strategy as my primary defense, and then have 2nd key (or fob) be my secondary if available. I have caught myself at the front door of the house on a couple occasions where I had changed clothes and did not have my full complement of stuff with the most notable missing item being the front door key.

She is a native Michigan-type person. I met her at a convention in Wisconsin in March one year, started talking online and on the phone, and given some time, found myself away from my family for the first time and living in Warren, Michigan. How about that? You do silly things for love. *giggles*

Actually, it really was kind of neat to live somewhere far from what I knew as home for a while. I missed my family, but I met some great people and saw neat things.

Yes, we do silly, delightful, and ultimately life changing things for love.

I grew up in Dearborn Heights. I have never lived outside of Michigan, so that is one life experience I do not have.
